My name is Melissa Nemer.  I am a realtor at Meybohm Realtors and the mother of 4 wonderful girls!  My passion for charter schools began when my oldest daughter was just four years old.  I enrolled her in a Montessori charter school IVMS (Island Village Montessori School) in Venice Florida from pre-k through 6th grade.  After that she attended the Imagine Charter school for the next three years.  Throughout her 10 years in charter schools I realized the struggles that charter schools must overcome with limited funds and I grew to love the close-knit family feeling that the charter schools offered. My daughter studied 3 years of Latin, 8 years of Spanish, Gardening and many other courses that set her upon a successful track in life.  She is graduating this year from Greenbrier High School with a full scholarship to attend Augusta University and was recently accepted into the Honors Program!  Just before I heard about SAIL I had considered moving back to Florida to allow my younger daughters the same opportunity their sister had at IVMS.  I was overjoyed to hear about SAIL!

Charter schools have a need for fundraising and parent involvement unlike most public schools.  At my daughter’s charter school, we painted classrooms, landscaped, volunteered lunchroom duty and assisted teachers in any way possible and of course raised funds for various needs our schools had. I want every parent who wants to be involved to have that opportunity.  I want every parent to have a voice, a vote, a right to say at a meeting with other parents what they want for the school and I believe we can find some way for every family to be involved! I have no doubt that we, as a team, through fundraising and parent involvement can help assure the success of SAIL!

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as Vice President of PALS. I am a mother of three, one of which will be a SAIL Kindergartner in the fall! I have enjoyed serving on the SAIL Fundraising Committee and would love the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for the school in an additional role.

I am a graduate of the University of Georgia where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences. I am currently continuing my education and honoring my love of serving children by pursuing my Master of Education in School Counseling at Augusta University.

Although new to a parent organization, I enjoy volunteering and have experience working with several organizations including: Junior League of Augusta, Daughters of the American Revolution, Southern Dames of America, The Colonial Dames of America, and the Wesley West campus of Wesley United Methodist Church.

I am looking forward to an exciting and productive inaugural year of SAIL!

My name is Amanda Schick, and I’m thrilled to be your secretary for PALS. I am mom to Lainey, a rising first grader at SAIL. I have loved organization for as long as I can remember. In school, I was a meticulous note taker, and I always loved to keep my notes readable and in order. I am an attentive listener, and I’m able to easily pick up on pertinent information that speakers may impart. I am a former High School honors and advanced placement English teacher. Currently, I’m a full time mama and wife and a part time children’s librarian assistant at the Columbia County Library. I am looking forward to SAIL and all of the opportunities that it will present to our children, and I am honored to serve as the secretary for the PALS organization.

My name is Heather Videtto and I am mother to three children and a volunteer at heart. Whether it is volunteering with my MOMS Club chapter, our Cub Scout Pack, the PTO at my children’s school, or at church; I feel great joy when I am helping others.  I have served as the Vice President of Membership/ Volunteering and also as secretary on the PTO at my children’s school and I have also served as the Membership Vice President and Secretary of our local MOMS Club chapter. I enjoy meeting all of the great people that you get to meet when you volunteer and I also enjoy helping to bring great ideas to fruition. I am happy to serve on the PALS board because I believe this school is going to be the answer to what many parents have wished for their children. I am so excited for our family to begin this wonderful journey at SAIL!

My name is Laura Pearson and my daughter Melinda will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. We’re very excited to be a part SAIL! As for my background, I was raised in a military family and moved around a bit as a child, but I mostly grew up in Warner Robins, GA. After college, I moved to Maryland to complete my Masters in Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University and work as a mathematician for the federal government. There I met my husband Alex. We wanted to be closer to family, so we transferred to Fort Gordon and moved to the Grovetown area this past fall.  I look forward to doing what I can to help SAIL succeed!

My name is Lindsey Kelley, I have two very lively children, and I am a stay at home parent. Before my husband and I decided that I would stay home, I worked as an administrative assistant.

After I left the workforce, I realized something was missing, so I began pursuing what that was. I began working at the local church in their Children’s department as often as I could, and I absolutely loved it! Teaching the children and seeing their excitement when they would come running through the door to “Ms. Lindsey’s Class” would always put a smile on my face! I also volunteered at another local church with VBS for 3 years.

I now babysit a few children regularly because I have always wanted a house full of children and listening to the sweet pitter patter of feet coming down the hallway.

I am happy to be a part of SAIL and PALS. This is a wonderful opportunity and expansion to our community, as well as to our children, and I am eager to help this school year be successful!

Hi, my name is Brittany Reese. I was born and raised in Georgia. Some would say I am a Georgia Peach. I have been married for eight years and have two beautiful girls, Jenny is 7 and Chelsey is 5.

I’m finishing my last year working towards a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. God has assured me that his plan for my life is education so that I may reach and teach little children. I feel deeply in my heart that is where God wants me, so I will follow his lead.

My professional background is very diverse. My first job, was working as an apprentice mason, carpenter and welder. I was very intrigued and interested in the trade. I know how to lay brick and block, build a deck as well as Mig and Tig weld. Most importantly I learned that summer that I really want to get a college degree so I never have to do any of those things for a living, but I have much appreciation for the trade. Since 2010 I have been a domestic engineer, the best job EVER.

In my free time I enjoy gardening. I have recently started painting and my husband and I enjoy working on pallet projects together. We take family trips camping, hiking, biking, walking, kayaking, geocaching and many other types of outdoor exploration.

I love children. I enjoy their company, I love talking to them and listening to them. It has become apparent to me over the past several years that God gave me the gift of communicating with children in a special way so that I may be able to teach and touch their lives in a positive way.

I work for the GA Department of Economic Development at the Georgia Visitor Information Center on I-20.  I have been there for about 17 years!  I love promoting Tourism and the State of Georgia. My husband is Clayton and we have two beautiful children Noah (8), Stella (5) and a wild fun red lab Baron. In my spare time I love to go on vacation and spend time with my family. I also enjoy getting in the kitchen and cooking and baking just about anything. I’m super excited to move onto the property we purchased and grow a huge garden, have some chickens, and just be in the country!

Courtney Norris is a native Georgian who lives in Evans with her husband, Bobby; sons, Landon (7) and Connor (5); and rambunctious Labrador Retriever, Bondi. She spent several years in the classroom teaching special education in Baltimore before moving to Evans in 2011. She now enjoys a position as a program director and behavior analyst for a non-profit. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys traveling, wake boarding, and scuba diving and is always up for anything adventurous! She is excited to partner with SAIL in offering our kids a better way to learn.

My name is PJ Campanaro. I’m 42 and married with 2 kids, Olivia and Sophie. Olivia has been accepted into sail as a kindergartener. Sophie is wait listed.

I’m a lawyer. I was a prosecutor for almost 10 years and have now been in private practice 7 years. I practice family law, criminal defense, civil rights, and personal injury. I was just accepted into leadership Columbia County. I am heavily involved with the local Leukemia, lymphoma, Society.  I am also a certified mediator. My hobbies are exercise and relaxation.

I look forward to an amazing first year at SAIL.

My name is Megan Hooker. I am a native to Augusta and have lived in Evans for 24 years. I have been married to my wonderful husband for eight years and we have two beautiful children. My oldest, Madilyn, is five and will be attending Kindergarten at SAIL. I am a licensed cosmetologist and worked as a hairstylist for over five years before I had Madilyn. My husband and I decided that I would become a stay at home mom to our sweet little girl. I have enjoyed every minute with her and now her little brother Everett who is two. Last year, I decided to follow a passion of mine and turned my love for photography into a part time business. I now enjoy my time at home with my children as well as meeting new families through photography. I am so excited to help share all the fun memories that will be made this year through our yearbook. Capturing these precious moments in our children’s lives is why I started my business. I look forward to seeing this wonderful new chapter unfold for our sweet little ones this year. I know it’s going to be amazing!

Meet Nicole Troutman, mother of Jack and wife of Anthony. Nicole will be serving on our Yearbook Committee where she will be able to share her artistic talents and love for all things creative. Before moving to Augusta, Nicole studied architecture at UNC, and she now runs her own architectural digital rendering business. Nicole and her family enjoy traveling, sailing, cycling, and pretty much anything active. Because of her love for yoga, Nicole joined the team at The Yoga Center where she serves as their business manager. Nicole is a talented artist, and you can see many of her artistic works displayed throughout Augusta.
